Maundy Thursday

One year I was actually invited by the priest to one of the twelve whose feet he would wash.
About a day or two before Maundy Thursday the light bulb came on and I talked one of my roommates into helping me.
The Mass was in the afternoon so that morning I had talked my roommate into writing on my feet. I happened to have a permanent black marker handy (It took several days to get the writing off).
So that afternoon, I went up to a chair set in front of the altar and removed my shoes and socks. Father Len true to form, shook his head and rambled on ("I see who's playing Judas today." "I wish I had some steel wool.") while he was the feet of the woman in the chair opposite mine.
In hindsight, it was immature. Mass is not the place for jokes and silliness, but I still laugh about it anyways. I can't undo it anyways.

This has made my Friday!

"Dead men tell no tales!" I think translates as "Mortuus homines dico haud fabula!"
Walk the plank: Ingredior tabula
My Latin is rough though.
I found this and other awesome book ideas like "Rome Sweet Vampire" at This Ain't the Lyceum 7 Quick Takes
The post also reminded me of my Papal Spaghetti Western post.

Arc vs Ark

The Israelites carried the Ark of the Covenant into battle. Mary is the Ark of the New Coveant. The Arc of the Covenant is the rainbow given as a sign after the Great Flood that God would never flood the entire Earth again.

Saw this on Facebook

Our battalion chaplain had this on his Facebook page. He got it from someone, who got from someone. Its too funny not to pass along.

Too funny not to post! A mother invites her son, Anthony, for dinner. He lives with a female roommate, Tina. During the course of the meal, his mother couldn't help but notice how pretty Anthony's roommate is. Over the course of the evening, while watching the two interact, she started to wonder if there was more between Anthony and his roommate than met the eye. Reading his mom's thoughts, Anthony volunteered, "I know what you must be thinking, but I assure you, Tina and I are just roommates.'' About a week later, Tina came to Anthony saying, "Ever since your mother came to dinner, I've been unable to find the silver sugar bowl. You don't suppose she took it, do you?" "Well, I doubt it, but I'll email her, just to be sure. " So he sat down and wrote an email: Dear Mama, I'm not saying that you "did" take the sugar bowl from my house; I'm not saying that you "did not" take it. But the fact remains that it has been missing ever since you were here for dinner. Love, Anthony Several days later, Anthony received a response email from his Mama which read: Dear son, I'm not saying that you "do" sleep with Tina, and I'm not saying that you "do not" sleep with her. But the fact remains that if she was sleeping in her OWN bed, she would have found the sugar bowl by now. Love, Mama. ------ Moral: Never lie to your Mama

So I was thinking,... what if the saints had modern bands? What might they be called?

I love reading Pearls Before Swine. Its one of only a few comics out there that I still find funny as an adult.

Like a liberal with a baseball bat...

Bucky Katt with the funniest quote that I have heard all week:
"The winter Olympics are like a liberal with a baseball bat: You may not like him, but you have to respect him."
