The Gospel reading this morning at the Tridentine Mass was from the Gospel of St John when Jesus first explicity anounced His divinity to the Jewish people. "Before Abraham was, I am". However, my mind wandered this morning (after mass) to the part of the Gospels when the people greet Jesus on His arrival in Jerusalem.
The people say "Blessed is He who comes in the Name of the Lord". This sentence is of course said as part of the Mass every Sunday. Its just before the consecration and very often I have imagined Jesus riding the colt down the aisle to be present at the altar for the priest to distribute to the faithful.
Just as Jerusalem rejoiced that day at His coming, we rejoice every Sunday at His coming to the New Jerusalem and we rejoice for we know the day is coming when He shall return.
