Saint Expeditus

St Expeditus was a Roman Soldier in Armenia. The Devil came in the form of a crow to convince him to convert and be baptized tomorrow (in Latin tomorrow is "cras"). He stomped the crow and said today ("hodie" in Latin). He was martyred.
Because of the story he is naturally the patron saint against procrastination. I will seek his prayers. He was a soldier and I procrastinate, so he seems to fit perfectly.

Oh, my goodness, thank you for this!

I've had a difficult week, had to go to confession, and was putting it off. Last night I went to Mass (we have Confession after every daily Mass; 3 at my parish), and during Mass had a huge temptation to go "tomorrow" morning.

I actually left mass, couldn't seem to leave the church. I didn't want to go to Confession; I wanted to go Saturday (today) to a different priest, although there was nothing wrong with last night's priest!

So I wandered into the sanctuary, to the grotto where we house the statues of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

All week, I was struggling with my faith, yet wanting to believe, needing God, etc.

Something told me to light a votive. I did so, speaking to Mary and Jesus, saying that I didn't know why I was lighting a candle, so the prayer intention was open to God's grace and the unknown soul's need.

I was still intending to go to Confession "tomorrow".

Then placed my hand on the Immaculate Heart of Mary's pregnant belly, and immediately the prayer came to me: "For the sake of his sorrowful passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world..."

Then I happened to look down at the snake under Mary's heel; crushing Satan's head.

I went to Confession last night.

Now I realize that one of my "unknown saints" is St. Expeditus. (Is he also known as St. Expedito? That may be an Italian pronunciation?).

Praise God for this Saint's intercession, preventing my procrastination!

And God bless you..keep up the good work!

P.S. ~ I'm not a soldier, but I am an ex cop (got out of that quick!), was almost USCG, and almost Marines and strongly encouraged towards Air Nat'l Guard....and now a member of the Church Militant....do I count? :-)

Because only the Devil has cause for someone to postpone the conversion of a soul.
