as though in prison with them

Hebrews 13:3 full text: "Remember the prisoners, as though in prison with them, and those who are ill-treated, since you yourselves also are in the body."

In the past couple of months Catholic World Report has had a couple of stories on North Korea. East Asia is my hobby. Most Americans have no concept of what it means to live in that utterly repressive society where people are brainwashed from babyhood on up that everything is good and from the "Dear Leader." North Korea is the perfection of deadly communism.

A friend of mine who grew up with a dad in the State Department once shared a story about a North Korean teenager he met at an international school in Madrid. Apparently, all radios and televisions in NK had dials, but they were fixed to where you couldn't change the channel away from the gov't station. It had never dawned on this guy that he could watch something else. He also believed that NK was the most prosperous nation on Earth. Long story short, the guy was suddenly removed from the school because he was becoming too westernized.
